Embrace: Part 2

Embrace: the Problem with Us and Them

Part two in the Embrace series explores the problem with Us and Them. So often in our discourse today we divide the world into US and THEM, where we are right and they are wrong. It is so simple to view people who are different from us as not being fit or worthy or equal.

In Acts 10, Peter’s world view is turned upside down by God. The lives and laws of a devote Jew and a Roman centurion could not be more separate. Yet God uses these two to show His love for all. Listen to this encounter, as Peter comes to see that God’s love is available for all people. As Peter says “God has shown me that I should not call anyone profane or unclean.” (Acts 10:28-29)

Imagine if we could also trust in God more than our own understanding and tradition. If we could just see the best in one another. Imagine what the world would be like.
